In Touring in Shanghai
Today, we first went to the Science and Technology Museum, which was okay. We saw a cool interactive screen where fish would move to locations where you pointed a laser. Then, we visited an art museum. There were many different types of art, though I felt that it was hard to enjoy because of a lack of knowledge of modern art. Finally, we went shopping again. The stores here were much more interesting than yesterday. I bought this nice painting of a bighorn sheep. I watched the creator make another painting and it was really interesting how he made it.

Today, we first visited the oriental pearl tower. The view was very nice, but there was not much to see after five minutes. Next, we visited the garden and had a lot of time to browse stores. The garden was nice and didn't take too long. We spent a lot of time walking through the stores trying to look for paintings in scrolls, but we couldn't find them. We looked for about an hour and a half, then rested for half an hour. It was pretty disappointing. Finally, we went to the cruise around Shanghai. It was same as the tower: beautiful and interesting for a while, but got boring quickly. The photo still will not load. It shows a view of the buildings in Shanghai during the night while we were on the cruise.

Today, we first visited an urban planning museum. I felt that most of it was just okay, so we spent some time sitting and relaxing. Later, we went to another museum, which was more interesting. They had information on Chinese history and culture. Even though the wait was very long, it felt worth it. Finally, we visited Nanjing Lu, a street filled with many streets. Unfortunately, it was very modern/western and most of the products were expensive. There were no good souvenirs, so we just bought some drinks, browsed stores, and relaxed. Picture of the an exhibit in the first museum.

In Touring in Shanghai
Today, we travelled from Hangzhou to Shanghai. First, we visited Wuzhen, where we observed the scenery, architecture, and river. Unfortunately, the weather was very hot which made it hard to enjoy. At Wuzhen, we also visited a bunch of small shops. The only item I bought was a wooden dragonfly that could balance on your finger, but it was fun to check out all the different kinds of items. Later, we visited some stores. They were surprisingly western, but I did not buy anything there. At the end of the day, we got to our new hotel. Although it is smaller than the old one, it is very clean and works great. The picture won't load again. It's a picture in Wuzhen of the river and architecture in the background.

Today, we went to West Lake where we observed the scenery filled with willow trees, pagodas, boats, and the Lovers'(?) Bridge. Later, we had lunch, then went to a bunch of stores. I bought some food and gifts for my friends and family as well as enjoying the wide variety of products in the stores. Overall, I thought that today was much more fun than the first day. The image will not load. It is a picture of the Lovers' Bridge (not sure what it's called), with water below it and willow trees to its right.

On the second day of the leadership convention, we had the 1st round of competition. Although I was a little nervous, I think my presentation went well. Everyone else also did very well and I enjoyed watching their presentations. It was also interesting to watch how different the presentations and projects were between the Chinese and American students. There was a lot to learn from them to help improve my work in the future. During the camp, I spent a lot of time with my group, #27. Over this short period of time, we grew close and had a lot of fun together. We worked on projects and accomplished a lot together. On the second to last day, we celebrated our coach's birthday and said our farewells. They've been really accommodating and have helped me understand their Chinese. It's a shame that we could only be together for a short while. Today, we went sightseeing in Hangzhou. Unfortunately, it was very hot early in the day, and later rained and thundered for a while. After dinner, we came back to a hotel, but the quality was quite low, which could be shown well by the washing machines. Luckily, we were able to move to a better hotel.
